The Pirates are sinking fast

Ironically, when I saw the first "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie, I did not anticipate liking it, but ended up liking it very much. This time I had great expectations for the sequel, and thought it was lousy. Not only did I not know what was motivating the various characters, I ceased caring within the first hour. Unfortunately for me, the movie went on quite a bit longer from there.

I will confess that I don't remember any of the details from the first movie, so anything about the back story that I was expected to know, I didn't.
